My favourite toque

this is my all-time favourite toque pattern. it’s great for a first time knitter. to make this pattern, i modified the highland hat pattern from wool and the gang. i believe it’s easier than the original because it’s one colour and knit in the round.

i actually taught myself to knit using this pattern by watching youtube videos that i’ve linked below. i wish i had learned from my grandma - she was an amazing knitter - but youtube will have to do. as you learn, don’t be shy to undo your work and start fresh until it looks how you want. i think i knit mine 4 times before it was good enough to wear.

this toque takes me about 1-2 hours to knit depending on how concentrated i am. it’s a great gift.

note that this toque may start off very tight on your head, but the wool loosens over time.
